Production clarity

Estimated ABV and calculations

BrewLogs uses gravity readings to show estimated ABV where enough data exists, and the product should keep those values clearly separate from verified lab results.

Gravity readings drive the estimate

Estimated ABV is based on available original and current gravity readings. If there are not enough readings, BrewLogs should indicate that the estimate is unavailable or needs more data.

Estimates are operational guidance

Estimated ABV can help teams review fermentation movement, but it is not a laboratory result and should not be used as a substitute for required testing or labeling decisions.

Keep the calculation traceable

A useful production record should show the gravity values behind an estimate so a brewer can understand the basis for the number.
